Lots of Vintage Postcards & Pinback Buttons

Filed under: Collectibles — Tags: — countryjoe @ 5:49 pm

We acquired a nice lot of over a hundred vintage postcards and a lot vintage pinback buttons and some medals last week from an estate through another dealer, along with other goodies. Have just started to peek thru the cards and looks like a lot of neat stuff. And the buttons are great. Will be adding the postcards to our postcard shopt little by little between working our other collectibles. Also will post some of the pinback buttons here as I go, but stop by our Antiques & Collectibles as all won’t be shown here.

Renwal Dollhouse Furniture

Filed under: Collectibles — Tags: — countryjoe @ 3:33 pm

Somewhere back in the 1950’s I can remember roaming through the 5 & 10¢ store, Woolworths or Kressege’s in search for some toys to buy. I normally headed for the plastic car or military models, sometimes to the cast metal soldiers, cowboys etc. Usually nearby was the Renwal cars, trucks etc. and next to that was the Renwal dollhouse furniture, being a guy I didn’t have a dollhouse but I remember the furniture was pretty neat. Great details, scale etc. and there was probably a hundered different items. I always had a thing for miniatures so I guess that is what attracted me. Anyway I never had any dollhouse furniture.

Many years later when I started doing the flea markets I bought a bunch of Renwal furniture and a tin dollhouse at a yard sale. Next time I set up at the market I put the stuff out and sold most of in in a short time, so I watched and bought more when I saw it. Sold out quickly again. Since then I’ve become a steady buyer and seller of Renwal dollhouse furniture.

A little bit about Renwal dollhouse furniture.
The Renwal Company, a maker of some of the finest plastic toys and doll house furniture during the late 1940s through the 1950s. Many of these fine toys that were produced by Renwal are: airplanes, play guns, boats, helmets, washing machines, baby items and other household items. In the dollhouse furniture department there are pieces for every room in your dollhouse. Living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and nursery plus the play room and laundry. Lots of neat accessores such as lamps, radios, clocks, vacuum cleaner, ironing board, sewing machine etc. Toys were plastic and many were left in hot attics and have warped, but many were also packed away carefully and have survived, some in great condition and some in played with condition.

Don’t know if kids nowadays have dollhouses but it seems a lot of baby boomers want to recreate and remember their past, they seem to be my best customers.

Some Renwal furniture in the shop.
