Various American companies created tin noisemakers, such as T.Cohn, Chein, and Bugle Toy. One of the most recognizable manufacturer’s is Kirchhof, a company that created toys in Newark, New Jersey. Kirchhof manufactured tin noisemakers in the early part of the 1900’s. These early noisemakers were made from tin and came complete with handles made from sculpted wood. The Made in Japan noisemakers from the 1950’s had plastic handles,as did later versions of these noise makers.
Don’t know why but I’ve always had a thing for the early ones. Back when lots of neat stuff showed up around the flea markets I had a pretty big collection of them, but that was years ago, which has since been dispersed. But still pick them up when I see them.
